We are back with more information on garage door types! Hanson Overhead, Garage Doors Raleigh, hopes to help you make the best decision for your garage and home! Below, you’ll find more information regarding garage door materials!
Aluminum Garage Doors | Garage Doors Raleigh
With many advantages as the ever-durable steel door, aluminum garage doors are great for various reasons. In addition to being extremely lightweight, aluminum doors are rust resistant and inexpensive, compared to most types of materials.
You can also purchase aluminum with embossed wood grain or get them coated in a paint that helps them appear to be wooden.
The downside: Again, like steel garage doors, aluminum can dent; badly. The dent issue is much worse than steel and it’s important to be very careful when choosing aluminum because the dents aren’t always easy to remove.
Fiberglass | Garage Doors Raleigh
With an aluminum frame and fiberglass panels, these doors are very lightweight and great for those that are looking to spice up their curb appeal!
The fact that fiberglass is translucent brings about a whole other world for your garage. Many homeowners use fiberglass doors when they convert their garage into a living space or outdoor patio type area. The fiberglass doors are great for adding curb appeal and an outdoors-in type effect!
The downside: Fiberglass is terrible when it comes to keeping your garage insulated. In addition, it breaks easily; especially in the cold, and yellows with time.
