Staging Your Garage, Continued!

Raleigh garage door repair

Stage Your Garage | Raleigh Garage Door Repair

You probably know at least one homeowner that has a spotlessly clean and organized garage. Chances are, the tools are organized, the walls are clean and the floor is painted. They also have their garage door maintained regularly by a Raleigh garage door repair guy, as well.
While you might feel inclined to go into their garage and throw everything on the ground and kick it around a bit, it’s best to just take advantage of the situation. You’ll be able to take their garage and use it as an example of how yours will look when you’re done cleaning and organizing!
You don’t want to get mad at the fact that their garage is better than yours – you want to appreciate it and aim to get yours in that same condition!
Now comes the (not-so) fun part! First, you’ll want to pull each and every item out of your garage, until the entire room is empty. Then, clean the garage until it’s spotless. Of course, cleaning a garage isn’t anything like cleaning the inside of a home. There are going to be oil stains, grease on the walls, and more grime that you don’t typically find inside the home.
The best way to tackle the grime and remove it is to power-wash it. Once, you’re done, use a paint scraper to remove anything that’s left behind such as paint splatters and other things that are stuck on the walls or floor. For oil stains, use an oil and grease remover cleaner to make sure they are lifted from the surfaces.
Once you’re done with all the cleaning and your garage is spotless, it’s time to paint the walls and floor! Use a semi-gloss paint for the walls and an epoxy coating for the floor. You’re going to be very pleased with things once the paint dries and you’re able to see how much work you’ve actually done!
The next step is to get organized! All that “stuff” you’re storing in the driveway right now must go somewhere! Hopefully, not all of it will find its way back to the garage.
Some of the best items to use for organization are:

  • Pegboards
  • Built-in cabinetry
  • Heavy-duty storage bins
  • Shelving with smaller storage bins

For hanging tools, the pegboard will be great! As for the built- cabinets, store your bulky items so that there’s not much sitting around on the floor of the garage. After all, you’ll want to show off that newly epoxy painted floor! Using the built-in cabinets, storage bins and shelving will help keep your garage looking well-maintained and orderly!
Donate all items you don’t need or want and put the rest of the things you won’t need while the house is on the market in a storage facility, or at a friend or family member’s house. You’ll want to keep as much out of your garage as possible during showings. Also, be sure to move the cars out of the garage during showings, as well.
We hope these tips will help you get your garage in tip-top shape so that it will wow potential buyers as they come to view your home!

Staging Your Garage

Raleigh garage doorsStaging Your Garage | Raleigh Garage Doors

Did you know that over half of all home buyers include a garage in their list of must-have items when searching for a home? That’s right! Even more, 86 percent of all home buyers searching for a home want a garage with storage space.
If you’re considering selling your home and have both of these big ticket items, it’s important to make sure that your garage is appealing to as many home buyers as possible. You’re probably thinking that just having a nice, big garage is enough, but in reality, that’s not the case. Home buyers are looking for a garage that’s de-cluttered, organized and “staged” to look perfect!
In addition, the curb appeal of your garage must be on point, as well. The Raleigh garage doors must be maintained and in good shape physically and aesthetically. A beautiful garage outside will get buyers excited to see what’s inside!
That’s why you need to make sure that all the clutter that’s typically stored in the garage, piled high to the ceiling, should be packed away long before your home is listed on the market! You’ll be inclined to stage the interior of your home for viewings so it’s important to do the same thing in your garage. Buyers want to see a garage that’s clean and organized – not one that resembles a self-storage facility!
You’re probably wondering how you’ll ever start tackling this project if you’re like most Americans that neglect their garages. The best place to start is outside the garage:

  • Pressure wash the driveway leading up to the garage
  • Plant flowers around the area in flower boxes or planters
  • Call a Raleigh garage door repair specialist to come out and tune your garage doors up and fix any issues they might have
  • Clean your garage doors thoroughly, making sure the glass and panels are dirt and grime free

Once you’re done outside the garage, it’s time to move indoors. While you’re de-cluttering, leave your Raleigh garage door up so that the natural light can come through. You’ve got a better chance of getting everything cleaned out and organized better with more light as garages can sometimes be very dark.

Raleigh Garage DoorsRaleigh Garage Doors Can Enhance Your Home!

Are you ready to enhance your home with your Raleigh garage doors? It’s amazing the impact new garage doors will have on the overall look and style of your home and property! Below, you’ll find a few tips that will help you set the style for your home and add tons of enhancements!
Architectural Detail
Is your home craftsman style or English cottage style? If so, play that part of your home up through the garage! No matter what style it is, the architectural detail of your home is what gives it character. Take advantage of it and continue it on throughout the garage and Raleigh garage doors. According to bhg.com, “A house with very specific architecture needs a garage that sounds the same design notes.”
The garage on this English cottage-style house fits onto the home so seamlessly that you wouldn’t know what it was if you didn’t see the doors. To carry the point a bit further, the garage door’s style and paint scheme are specific to the house, making the garage and home a splendid combination.
Additional Detail
Believe it or not, adding white trim and dormers to your garage can make a huge impact, enhancing the overall look of your home. Whether you add wooden garage doors or a stone facade, the details matter! Don’t leave any part of the garage unattended to!
Improve Your  Detached Garage
Most detached garages are simple and practical. Why not make it elegant and stylish? Turn your basic detached garage into something that demands attention! Add a balcony, shingle siding, dominate white trim or a roof tile in a color that coordinates with your home. You’ll be surprised by how great you can make your detached garage look and how much it will enhance the overall look of your property!
Stylish Garage Doors
The best way to add curb appeal to your home and garage is with stylish garage doors. Take a look at the overall style of your home to get an idea of what type of garage door will look best. You’ll be glad you took the time to invest in stylish doors, once they’re up! If your garage is facing the street, 30 percent of passersby will notice it and your new garage doors.
Blended In
Does the architecture of your garage lack in curb appeal altogether? Your best bet might be to blend the garage and garage doors in so it doesn’t stand out in any way. Nondescript garage doors are just as enhancing as elaborate ones when the overall look of the garage isn’t strong enough to stand out alone.

Enhance the Look of Your Garage!

Raleigh garage door repairEnhance the Look of Your Garage! | Raleigh Garage Door Repair

Are you looking to enhance the look of your garage this coming spring? If so, our Raleigh garage door repair team is here to offer you a few tips to help you plan!
Integrate Landscaping
The exterior of your garage is a great place to integrate landscaping. There’s almost always a nice spot for planter boxes on the windows or on either side of the garage doors. If you have a detached garage, the possibilities are endless. Oftentimes, you can landscape the front or side of your detached garage just as you do your home! Small trees and shrubs are great additions to the exterior of a detached garage!
Add a Porch
Detached garages are usually placed out of the way, toward the side or back of the home. Because of this location, it’s easy to add a porch (open or screened in). Adding a porch on to the side of your garage – even if it isn’t detached – is a great way to add a warm and inviting characteristic!
Enhance Style
According to bhg.com, “With well-chosen materials and features, a garage can become a major factor in the overall design of a home.”
Especially when a garage occupies a dominate effect at the front of a home, you’ll have tons of visual opportunities to enhance it. Add a stone exterior, wooden carriage garage doors or a balcony to create interest and style! If your home is painted a lighter color, consider painting your garage a darker color to add visual interest. Thinking outside the box when adding style to your garage is key for creating curb appeal.
Lighting
Exterior lighting is always a great way to enhance the exterior of your home. It’s especially beneficial around the garage area for more than one reason. In addition to adding interest, exterior garage lighting also offers benefits to those that have early morning or late night arrivals home in the dark. Be sure to add lights to the front walls of the garage, next to the garage doors, as well as a few lining the driveway and walkways. Also consider adding an automatic light that turns on as your garage door opener opens the garage doors.
Special Features | Raleigh Garage Door Repair
Adding a special feature to your existing garage to help enhance it is key. A weather vane on top of the roof ridge, window caps or a garage door that stands out above the rest of the enhancements will offer a personal touch.
Enhancing your garage is easy with these tips! If you’re interested in talking with our Raleigh garage door repair team about other ways you can enhance your garage or if you’re looking for new garage doors, give us a call! Garage Door Quick Fixes

Raleigh Garage DoorRaleigh Garage Door Quick Fixes

If your Raleigh garage door is beginning to act a little strange lately, it might be time for a quick maintenance check. While some issues are serious and need an experts help, there are a few quick fixes you can do yourself, before you call in the garage door repair team.
Check the Rollers, Tracks, Hinges and Latches
These components need cleaning every year or so. Take a stiff cleaning brush, brush the rollers and tracks to get all the dirt and grime away. Then, use a lubricant on all parts to help them move easier. Also lubricate the pulleys on the garage door extension-spring openers and bearings on the torsion-spring openers. These can get rusty so a little oil will keep them from binding up.
Garage Door Opener Maintenance
Sometimes, our Raleigh garage door opener is the culprit causing the problem. To make sure it’s working properly, lubricate any mechanical parts and make sure there isn’t anything blocking the sensors that receive the signal to open the doors.
Weatherstripping Issues
Sometimes, the weatherstripping can cause the door to jam. If if the weatherstripping is pulling away from the door, try to adjust it. If it’s worn out, replacing the weatherstripping might be necessary to ensure that it stays in place.
Raleigh garage door maintenance should be done at least once a year to ensure that you don’t end up with an issue that isn’t easily fixed. Early spring is a great time to set your calendar for an annual maintenance check. That way, these quick fixes will do just that; quickly fix any minor issues. Fixing small problems can help keep larger issues at bay.
If you find that the quick fixes don’t resolve your garage door issues, contact our Raleigh garage door repair team. We can come out, check your garage doors, find the problem and fix them no matter what time of day or night it is! Our services are designed to help those in need at any time!
